A Big Bang in the Firestorm Armada Galaxy
Spartan Games is pleased to be able to detail a major expansion within the Firestorm Armada Galaxy, which will see a number of exciting additions to our successful starship combat game, along with a huge development of Planetfall, our 10mm scale tabletop combat game.
As the game approaches its 4th anniversary a new core rulebook, Firestorm Armada 2nd Edition, will be released this year. Maintaining a game play that will be familiar to the huge number of players worldwide who already play Firestorm Armada, the enhanced rules engine embraces a number of exciting modifications:
• Improved approach to Weapon Systems
• Introducing Tactical Manoeuvres and Targeted Strikes
• New Boarding Rules
• Tactical Ability Cards
• Tournament Play Rules
• Support for Extensive Terrain Types
• Improved Victory Condition Engine and more Scenarios
Whilst making the changes to the rules we looked to ensure that no models bought by a customer would be left in the dark, and also no investment by a player would be voided. All models owned by players are supported in the new rules and statistics. We will also be making a digital version of the rules available as a free download as we continue to support our ever growing community.
In addition to the new core rulebook, two Alliance Books are heading to the Storm Zone:
• Zenian League
• Alliance of Kurak
The books will feature statistics and background for all races that belong to each alliance, be it one of the Major 6 races, or any of the exciting races like the Kedorians, RSN, Ryushi, Hawker Industries and Work Raptor. They will also include flexible Fleet building rules for assembling your own Alliance Fleets.
NEW MODELS
In addition to the work on the new rules we have designed a series of new models – the first of which has seen the Battleships, Cruisers and Frigates heading back to the space docks for a refit. These will be released as a series of all new Fleet Boxes.
Aesthetically designed to match in to our existing fleets, these new models will represent the latest advances in technology that races like the Terrans, Dindrenzi, Relthoza, Aquans, Directorate and Sorylians have made as the war in the Storm Zone grows.
THE GROUND POUNDERS
It has long been a part of the plans for the FA Galaxy that your space fleets could fight their way to planets and star systems ready to deploy ground forces with which to capture or destroy vital strategic objectives. Having watched our community of 10mm scale gamers grow, and beavered away in the background on new models and enhanced rules, it is a pleasure to tell you that all of the six major races will be coming to a tabletop soon.
Having listened to feedback and read your Wishlists, Firestorm Planetfall has taken shape and will be rolled out to as follows:
• All six major races
• Boxed Sets designed to make army building easy and cost effective
• Hardback Rulebook
• Alliance Books
• Range of high quality scenery – from bunker complexes to entire cityscapes
For those players who already own Terrans and Dindrenzi we have not left you out. An entire set of new, highly detailed models have been created to complement your existing forces. From brand new tanks and aircraft to gigantic Prime Movers capable of transporting entire units of infantry across the gaming table, we’ve worked on it all.
